There are two types of humans: those who work to survive, and those who work for the dead. The latter group, known as the undead, are devoted to fulfilling the desires of ghosts who passed away with regret. Baili Dengfeng has one purpose in life: to locate his missing wife Ruyan. Along the way, he meets Jia Xuan, who seeks to avenge the murder of his family, playful and loving Liang You, and the paranoid Liang Yuan. As Dengfeng uncovers more information, he discovers the existence of Spirit Masters and Spirit Slaves, and joins a group called "Spirits Expelling Order." With each piece of the puzzle falling in place, Dengfeng is apprehensive about confronting the reality of his situation.
