The Kingdom of Hortensia is thrown into disarray by a violent rebellion in the capital, led by Duke Rugis Camellia, resulting in the death or disappearance of every member of the royal family. In the midst of the chaos, Maurice Baudelaire, a knight who barely escapes with his life, watches as his brother, Fernando Albert, is killed by a werewolf in battle. Determined to honor his brother's legacy, Maurice embarks on a journey to deliver Fernando's sword to his son, Alfred Ober. Despite his sadness, Alfred recalls the vow he made with his father to protect his land, the Albert Dominion, by becoming a knight. With Maurice's guidance, Alfred works to improve his combat skills and fulfill his promise. Alongside him, Marius Casterede, a fascinating boy with an age cloaked in mystery, trains as well. Meanwhile, Pope Alexi Valdebron orders the capture of the missing princess and crowns Charlot D'Hortensia as the new king.
