Once more, Xie Lian enters the scene, as the heavens quake and thunder rumbles; though, he does so wearing an apologetic smile. Once worshipped as the Crown Prince of Xianle, a highly respected martial deity, he now rises to the realm of the gods as an anonymous deity, without a following to his name. On his inaugural mission, Xie Lian sets off through a dusky, moonlit forest. He encounters a stranger clothed in red who guides him through the trees. However, their interaction is brief as the crimson-robed figure vanishes, replaced by a group of twinkling butterflies. It transpires that the individual he encountered was indeed Hua Cheng, the Ghost King who instills terror in the hearts of divine beings and fiends as the Crimson Rain Sought Flower. Xie Lian is taken aback by Cheng's assistance to a Heavenly Official, and before he can come to grips with the gravity of the situation, he meets San Lang. San Lang is a young man who is knowledgeable about both the forgotten Crown Prince and the Ghost King, and he accompanies Xie Lian on his mission to uncover the secrets of the past.
