At just 14 years old, Naru Sekiya struggles to live up to the ideal of the princesses she adores, while also feeling out of place with her peer group's expectations of perfection. Her friend Yaya excels in music, and Tami thrives on the student council, leaving Naru feeling stuck and searching for a way out of her timid shell.
One evening, Naru encounters what she thinks is a charming fairy resting atop a torii gate. The fairy invites her to dance, but it turns out to be Hana N. Fountainstand, a transfer student from the United States. Hana introduces Naru to yosakoi, a joyful Japanese dance that Hana has treasured since she was a child.
Initially intimidated by Hana's vivacity and the thought of being seen dancing, Naru gradually immerses herself in yosakoi and becomes a supportive friend, encouraging Hana to pursue her dreams. Naru understands the uncertainty of a young woman's life, knowing that it can shift like the winds.
