According to Ryou Machiko's late grandmother, being a great wife starts with being a skilled cook, which is something that Ryou, a middle schooler, excels in. However, despite her meals looking appealing and fragrant, the taste has been lacking lately. Ryou begins to accept the possibility of living alone forever as an unhappy art student. Then, her aunt informs her that her second cousin, Kirin Morino, will be staying with her every weekend while attending a cram school in Tokyo that Ryou also hopes to attend.
To her amazement, Ryou's cooking drastically improves with her cousin's arrival. She realizes that the taste of her food is not due to her culinary talent but rather the joy of sharing the experience with loved ones.
