At the beginning of the show, we're introduced to Chitose Fujinomiya - a character who has experienced the highs of wealth and the lows of poverty, but still remains snobbish. When her father (who was very wealthy) passes away, Chitose is left with almost no money due to unpaid debts. Her fancy school, Tokai no Gakuen, expels her from classes. All she's left with is her pink goldfish, Gyopi-chan, and the clothes she's wearing. With no plan in sight, Chitose wanders aimlessly and discovers Inaka no Chugakko (Country Jr. High School). The school environment seems friendly, but the area is rough, and there are farm animals all over the place. Chitose is not accustomed to such poverty, at first. However, she eventually decides to enroll herself in the school.
