In 2029, Major Motoko Kusanagi, a female cybernetic agent of the government, along with the Internal Bureau of Investigations, is on a mission to track down "The Puppet Master" - a malicious computer virus that can take over human hosts. Kusanagi and her comrades from Section 9 team up to catch this ever-present entity, engaging in a fast-paced high-tech chase against time.
