At the start of a new semester at Shiiou University, Genshiken, also known as the "Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture," welcomes fresh faces into its ranks. Originally created as a space for otaku to indulge in their love for anime, manga, and video games, Genshiken's leader, Chika Ogiue, may have found herself with a challenge as a group of passionate yaoi fans join the club. In the meantime, the club's previous members have to adjust to their newfound roles as productive members of society.
