Throughout the ages, young angels have been required to live among humans and undergo an education to achieve their full angelic status. Gabriel White Tenma, an exceptional angel, is determined to spread joy amongst humankind. However, her love for video games leads her down a path of seclusion, causing her to become a hikikomori. She focuses only on her self-proclaimed “Fallen Angel” status, disconnected from everything else. This vexes her former angelic companion, Vignette April Tsukinose, a demon. Despite Vignette's attempts to reconnect Gabriel with her former self, Gabriel remains stubbornly devoted to her own way of life. While on Earth, they meet two unique characters: Raphiel Ainsworth Shiraha, an angelic classmate of Gabriel's with a penchant for masochism and Satanichia McDowell Kurumizawa, a clumsy demon who believes she is destined to rule the underworld. Gabriel DropOut follows the misfortune of these four companions as they try to understand the true meaning of being an angel or a demon.
