From as early as Souma Yukihira can remember, he has been cooking alongside his father Jouichirou in their restaurant. As a sous chef, he has honed his culinary skills and created innovative dishes that leave their customers in awe. His ultimate goal is to surpass his father's talents and inherit the restaurant. Therefore, he is taken aback when his father drops a bombshell - he is shutting down the restaurant to take up a position in New York.
Souma is faced with a tough decision. While he has the option of joining his father in New York, he decides to enroll in the prestigious Tootsuki Culinary Academy. However, it's no walk in the park, with only 10% of students graduating. The academy is renowned for its "Shokugeki," which are intense cook-offs used to settle disputes between students. His father advises him to graduate from Tootsuki if he wants to exceed his abilities.
Souma quickly learns that the academy is not for the faint-hearted, as he is met with a rigorous curriculum and cut-throat competition. He must navigate this intense environment if he hopes to fulfill his dream. But does Souma have what it takes to come out on top, or will his cooking abilities be enough?
