The Hakkyokuseiken martial arts school had a revered leader in Jeff Bogard, who was tasked with safeguarding the school's clandestine techniques. Unfortunately, his extensive knowledge caught the eye of the powerful South Town leader, Geese Howard, who sought to possess it. In a fateful confrontation, Geese killed Jeff Bogard before the eyes of his young adopted sons, Terry and Andy Bogard. Left with a burning desire for retribution, the brothers commit to mastering their skills under the wise guidance of their mentor, Tung Fe Rue. After ten years of intense training, Geese Howard announces a martial arts championship, dubbed the King of Fighters. Determined to finally earn their vengeance upon the man responsible for their father's death, Terry and Andy enter the tournament, teaming up with their Muay Thai expert friend, Joe Higashi.
