Gou made a promise to embark on a quest to discover the mythical Salamander treasure. Along his journey, he comes across a fairy named Ren who is also searching for the four Heart treasures. Gou's pursuit of riches frustrates his childhood companion, Mari, although she eventually befriends another fairy named Rin. Gou and Ren's search for treasure interferes with a secretive project headed by Mari's father. Ultimately, Gou discovers that his perceptions of Salamander were entirely inaccurate.
