Ellis, a young girl accused of the murder of the renowned physicist Heinrich Schneider, is fleeing from a subterranean community known as the "Hunters". She is ultimately discovered by the bounty hunter Nadie in a small town in Mexico. However, instead of turning Ellis in, Nadie spontaneously chooses to aid her, and the two girls set out to uncover clues about Ellis' history in her hometown. From there, they journey south in search of the enigmatic Gemstone of the Inca Rose, the "Eternal City" of Wiñay Marka, and the obscure fate of Ellis herself.
