Dragon Quest is based on Dragon Quest III, but has its own unique world map and altered character names. Certain characters may still be recognizable, however. The story revolves around Abel and Tialah, with Tialah receiving the famous Red Stone from the knowledgeable Master Yogi in Aliahan Village. Unfortunately, the nefarious Baramos takes Tialah captive and plans to resurrect The Great Dragon using the Red Stone in order to achieve immortality. Abel promises to rescue Tialah, and is given the Blue Stone, which is essential in controlling the newly resurrected Dragon.
