A crowdfunding campaign known as the "Digimon Adventure Memorial Story Project" was initiated. This project included five short films that covered a prequel to the upcoming feature as well as side stories featuring the Digimon characters and their day-to-day experiences that didn't make it to the final cut. The venture was financially backed and proved to be a triumph.
