Despite widespread skepticism about their existence, American journalist Lucie Davenport ventures to Texas to contact a particular family and encounters the cyborgs in the process. Freed from their obligation to safeguard humanity following the formation of the UN Guardian troops, the cyborgs now reside in serene seclusion.
