Europe is under imminent threat in 2017 as the Holy Britannian Empire invades. To mitigate the impact and minimize losses, the military forms a distinctive team named Wyvern, or W-0, comprising former Japanese residents commonly referred to as "Elevens." Chosen from impoverished neighborhoods, these individuals operate Knightmare frames, which are humanoid war machines, in high-risk missions that often result in fatalities. Their hope is to establish their reputation in the process. When a European battalion fails to retake a crucial city due to enemy obstruction, W-0 is entrusted to save them. Among the pilots selected for the rescue mission is Lieutenant Akito Hyuuga, nicknamed "Hannibal's Ghost" because of his battlefield adeptness. However, things take an unexpected turn when the commander initiates the Knightmare's self-destruct mechanism to maximize casualty count among Britannians, making it a death-defying venture. After the turbulence, Akito emerges as the sole survivor.
