On one occasion, a manhunt near the border went awry when a team accidentally stumbled upon an alien cave, causing sniper Shen La's unique abilities to be unleashed. To their aid, came a white-haired man named Wu Rendi who brought Shen La and his comrade Sun Desheng to an enigmatic Bureau of Paranormal Investigation and Research. Both were promptly enlisted into the First Section of the Bureau and, following a successful rescue of an archaeological team in the desert, they completed an internal transfer test. However, debates erupted about Shen La's peculiar energy, worsening internal conflicts within the Bureau. The Bureau had to tackle a mysterious occurrence of paranormal comas in Kylin City, during which they apprehended another white-haired man by the name of Yang Liao to work under Wu Rendi in Section 6. In their quest for the Chart of Heavenly Principles, an artifact hidden away from the hands of the malevolent Xiao Sanda, Shen La found himself at the tipping point of his immense power, in danger of self-destructing. It was during this dire moment that Wu Rendi implanted a "seed" from the white-haired man into Shen La's being, compelling him to undergo a metamorphosis, and thus setting him on a path towards a brand-new journey.
