As a Japanese high schooler, Tokidoki is sent to a cutting-edge history museum to make up for his poor performance in history class. The museum digitally re-creates the Edo period, but what was meant to be a simple school assignment turns complex when he's confronted by two otherworldly beings, "the nue" and "the yakou," resulting in him losing sight in his left eye. Fortunately, a girl named Kuchiha rescues him from the nue, and he realizes he's no longer using the simulation goggles and has been transported to the virtual Edo period.
